This Is What Horrible PR Is Like

Europe Playstation owners are mighty pissed right now, and for good reason. The new PS3 patch did something no one thought Sony would ever do. Place an advertisement in the XMB. There is now an icon for the game Singstar sitting on top of the Game category, bigger than any other icons and you can't delete it or move it. It's there and there's nothing you can do about it. Naturally, people started to Google for a way to get rid of it and they end up on Playstation Europe Official's blog page, where they are essentially told by the PR Rep, Nina Scherer, to suck it up.

Here are some of the most WTF replies I've ever seen from a Public Relations person (you can click on the first image to see it on its original size and then click through to see all of them one by one):

As someone says later in the thread:

She then comes back to apologize for some of her comments:

But then another questions if she really means "We will definitely take all of your feedback on board".

I seriously hope this is not the kind of image Sony wants to have for its Customer Service Relations.

  1. Well said. Although some of her comments were quite amusing I'll be surprised if she keeps her job.

  3. Utter bullshit as Sony recently laid off hundreds if not more PR people from their playstation department, but we get left with people like Nina, I'm pretty sure alot of those people were much better than Nina as a person and as an employee. Sad to see that good people lose their jobs and unfit employees stay on.

    1. That's the problem with society lately...
Big corporate company's tend to lay off good, responsible hard workers to keep this kind of people! It's kind of sad, because most of the time they are payed more and simply don't deserve the position.

But when they are messing with the public and their costumers, we now the truth behind the curtain and will not give to their greed!

    2. Uh, Nina isn't a PR "person". She works on Singstar. Has for many years. This is how the Playstation Blog works. These people from different studios/parts of the company make a post on the blog about their game/product and if they are nice enough, reply to comments.

  4. That is sad. Sometimes companies just don't give a shit. I personally warned glu about major security faillure they mostly have not fixed after a year. That you can't change your password is one thing, to generates a Guest_#### username and giving you a password that is exactly the same is another thing. Put both together and you get an horrible result. The 3rd time I flagged it I actually got an answer to relax, that they are just starting up (yeah a few years is just starting up). And they also fail to answer any thread regarding lost of bought money.

  5. You're welcome amnesiahaze :)

And yeah guys, I can only agree with all you've said. You'd think they would want to have top-notch customer service right ?

  6. Wow am glad i haven't updated yet. i normally just use my ps3 for the blueray :/ and the odd game. but having worked in the industry, this Nina is a total bi**h! what gives her the right to force icons onto peoples ps3's without telling anyone.... Crappy marketing or what!

    1. A lot of people want it, not everyone wants it. It's like complaining that you want Playstation Home removed from your XMB. A lot of people didn't want Life with Playstation or multiple store icons.

It's no where near as bad as the way Microsoft does their dashboard. People just hate change and people who have big egos hate having fun party games staring them in the face. "Karaoke? What kind of namby pamby crap is this? Roar! Outrage!"

Speaking of which I hope the update comes soon.

  7. I had nothing against Singstar. I havent liked it so didnt play it or anything.
so it was all good untill this icon came up on my ps3. I googled to see how to get rid of it and found heaps of people were having the same problem. Then i came across Nina scherers blog.
shes managed to fuel a rage thats made me HATE singstar.
during my frustration, i saw a post about someone saying you install the game and then you can delete it. i didnt think about it, so went ahead. damn it now its in my trophies list. absolutely hate singstar now and I'm pissed off at Playstation. I cant even delete the 0% in the trophies list either....
so thanks Nina...and to your crew of monkeys who thought "oh lets put it on everyones playstation xmb, they'll love it"
You get people saying "stop bitching about it" etc etc, but the bottom line is, I dont like the game. So why the hell would i want to look at that stupid icon. I could ramble all night about it.

  8. This Singstar thing has really got my goat! Normally a mild mannered person I find myself making voodoo dolls of what Mina might look like and spend hours upon hours sticking pins in her eyes!!!! Sony sort this out if I want Singstar I would buy...if I saw it for free in the PSN I still wouldn't want it so don't stick this crap on my Xmb!! It makes me boil over with anger every time I boot up my PS3.
