The launch of Assassin's Creed 3 just happened in Montreal. Montreal is also the home of one of the initial NHL teams, The Canadian. What is the link between those two? None, but that has not stopped Ubisoft to make one of their own.
Ubisoft has partnered with Canadian lead Goaltender, Carey Price, to show off 3 models of goalie masks that mix both the Canadian and Assassins Creed 3 themes. Yeah it is truly one of those "What the Hell" moments. The public will be able to vote for their favorite of the 3 masks that will then be made in 31 copies to be sold in auctions. But I feel I can't complain since the goal of this partnership is that the profit will be given to a charity of Mr. Price's choice.
But then there's this voice in me that tells it all. What the hell? Is that some poor marketing joke? Not only the NHL is in lock out this year, Assassin's Creed III's focus is on the American Independence war, but it is put on Quebec's hockey team, named Canadian. Not to mention Quebec struggle for independence in the past 30 years have been really put to the test. It is also in Quebec that the 1812 war got the American back to their borders (and resulted in a status quo after British troops were sent back to Quebec as well). So this deal seems a total contradiction to me... but I still believe it should be made. I'm not there to stop anyone doing any crazy things. God knows I've done my share of weird mixes in the past.
